Cables work under constant tension with the spring system — 5 Star Garage Door Service checks the full assembly, not just the visible fray point.
Every Napa, CA technician dispatched for Garage Door Cable Repair carries the specific tools and parts this job requires, not a generic all-purpose kit.
Every Napa, CA technician on this service line carries documentation you can ask to see, and we expect the question.
We check both cables and both drums together, since wear rarely happens in isolation.
Galvanized aircraft cable resists fraying far longer than standard cable in humid Napa, CA conditions.
Improper cable work while springs are loaded is a real injury risk.
Catching fraying before it snaps is far safer than an emergency call after.
Even a few loose strands mean a cable is close to failing under load — replacement cable gets sized to match your spring tension exactly.
A cable that's already snapped usually means the door dropped or hangs crooked — emergency replacement is stocked specifically because this can't wait.
A cable that's slipped off its drum causes uneven hanging — alignment gets checked against the opposite side for balance.
Extension spring systems should run safety cables to prevent whip-back — it's a quick, affordable safety upgrade.
The bracket anchoring the cable to the door corrodes over time — this is a less obvious but equally important part of the system.
